Sounds for video games.

  Psychology of sound

Sound is almost always used to create emotion and mood within games and films. It is also used to convey information.
What is timbre?  Timbre is the characters or quality of a musical sound/voice as distinct from its pitch and intensity.  Timbre depends on the relative strengths of the components of different frequencies, which are determined by resonance.
1.List at least 3 games (or films) which use sound as information (speech, iconography, symbolism and or metaphors) to convey information. In Transformers Age of Extinction there is a theme/sound that is played during whenever the character Lockdown is shown in the movie. This sound symbolizes Lockdown. For god of war there is theme that symbolizes kratos who is the main character that you play as. It also shows/means that he is going to kill a god such as Zeus. In Lone Survivor there are many themes for it which have and make you feel many emotions. One of these themes is known as Lone Survivor which is played when his fellow squad/friends get killed and it represents the fact he is soon going to be the Lone Survivor.

         Audio Environment (Atmosphere)
Using your sound examples above explain how the sound designer/engineer has communicated what the producer or director may have wanted the audience to feel or experience.
For Transformers the sound designer wanted me to feel a bit of excitement or to get ready for something epic that is about to happen. In god of war the theme wants me/ the audience to feel like something big is about to go down such as god slaying. They would want me to experience something action packed when the theme would kick in. For Lone Survivor the sound designer/ engineer would have wanted me to feel sad for the last survivor and wanted me to experience the bullets whipping past my ear with 3d/surround sound. It is to fully immerge me into the battle between USA troops and afghan soldiers.
